Most Moldavians back nationwide elections

Polls show that 80 percent of Moldavians stand for nationwide presidential elections. Ex-president Vladimir Voronin, who leads the Communists, is maintaining his strong position among voters. The Democrats leader Marian Lupu is considered topdog in the ruling Alliance for European Integration which comprises Democrats and Lib-Dems. Under Moldova’s law, the president is elected by the parliamentary majority.
