Medvedev, Assad urge Israel to join NNPT as a non-nuclear state

The Presidents of Russia and Syria, Dmitry Medvedev and Bashar Assad, have urged Israel to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation treaty as a non-nuclear state. Following talks in Damascus, Mr. Medvedev and Mr. Assad signed an agreement stipulating that Jerusalem should let the International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA inspect its nuclear facilities.
