Gulf of Mexico oil spill damage may reach 1.6 bln

Damage from the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico may reach 1.6 billion, according to the Texas-based Harte Research Institute. No less than 100,000 barrels of oil are seeping daily in the Gulf of Mexico from the British Petroleum-operated oil rig which sunk on 20 April.
