Belgian parliament sets date of new elections

Belgium’s parliament has set the date of early parliamentary elections on June 13 following the resignation of the government and collapse of the ruling coalition. In late April the government crumbled after the Flemish party walked out in protest at the lack of progress in negotiations over the rights of French residents in Dutch-speaking Flanders.
