Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has said that the Arctic has a strategic importance for Russia but that it’s also important to establish cooperation with the neighbors in protecting the environment of the region. Putin made the announcement as he visited one of the islands of the Franz Josef Land archipelago in Russia’s far north.
