The toll from a Dutch tourist bus crash in southern Portugal rose to four on Friday after a 64-year-old woman died of the injuries sustained in the late Wednesday accident, hospital sources said.
Five people remained hospitalised following the crash that occurred when the bus carrying 31 Dutch tourists and their Portuguese driver skidded off the road and down an embankment on the A22 highway in Portugal’s southernmost Algarve region, they said.
Earlier reports said the bus, which was driving the holiday makers to their destinations after collecting them at the region’s Faro airport, was carrying 33 tourists.
Police were investigating the cause of the crash.
