AMSTERDAM — The body of the 24-year-old captain whose tugboat capsized and sank earlier this month was found last weekend, the national police force KLPD said on Tuesday.
The tugboat En Avant 18 was towing a British ship to the Dordrecht steam event Dordt in Stoom when it capsized and later sank. Three of the crew survived, but the caption has been missing ever since.
The Dordrecht man’s body was found in the Oude Maas, near the Heinenoordtunnel, news agency ANP reported. The tugboat sunk in the Oude Maas near Zwijndrecht at about 12.30am on 14 May.
The three survivors were members of the Dordrecht rescue squad. They were identified as two men aged 24 and 43, both of Dordrecht, and a 28-year-old Barendrecht woman. The woman suffered minor injuries.
