Romanian pan pipe master Simion Stanciu Syrinx dead at 60

Romanian musician and Pan pipe master Simion Stanciu Syrinx has died following a long illness, his record label Cascavelle said Wednesday. He was 60.

Simion Stanciu was known for his adaptations of classical music works to the Pan pipe, performing with several European orchestras and contributing to the music score of the 1981 film “Quest for Fire.”

He died in Geneva on Tuesday, the record label said.
