MADRID – Iberia airlines cancelled 21 flights between Spain and Paris Orly airport Wednesday after a strike by French air traffic controllers.
The worst affected airport was Barcelona, where Iberia had to suspend five flights to Paris and four between the French capital and Barcelona.
Meanwhile, six flights between Madrid Barajas airport and Paris Orly were also cancelled.
Four flights between Seville and Paris and two between Valencia and the French capital were also cancelled.
Sources at Iberia said the affected passengers were offered the chance of changing their routes to other Spanish airports – or if they were flying to France, they could fly to Paris Charles de Gaulle, which was unaffected by the strike.
The strike by the air traffic controllers was called in protest at the reorganisation of flight control in the Paris region.
This change was confirmed after an unsatisfactory meeting between unions and management Tuesday.
