The American fast-food chain Burger King has just announced that it will be introducing for the first time ever in Spain its new fish hamburger – Big Fish Sandwich.
This sandwich, which the fast-food company describes as “a delicious golden-crisp catch”, is made from 100% white Alaskan pollock and covered with a crispy panko breading. The fish is topped with sweet tartar sauce, tangy pickles, black pepper and dill and served inside a toasted brioche-style bun with lettuce leaves.
The Big Fish Sandwich, a suitable option for non-meat eaters, will be available in the 600-plus fast-food restaurants located across the country.
Burger King has explained that during the launch of its new Big Fish Sandwich, there will be a promotion offer of two sandwiches for the price of 4 euro.
The Big Fish Sandwich is a new concept for Spanish Burger King restaurants, but the company has responded to the growing trend of trying out new combinations and shying away from the traditional chicken or beef type of menus.
So, this new dish on Burger King’s menu will now rival that of its nearest competitor – McDonalds’ Fillet-O-Fish.
The Burger King Big Fish Sandwich contains 520 calories, 16g of protein, 7g of sugar, 28g of fat – 4.5g of which are saturated, 30mg of cholesterol and 1260mg of sodium.
The fish in the McDonalds Fillet-O-Fish, on the other hand, consists of hoki fillet (75%), wheat flour, modified wheat starch, cornflour, salt, corn starch, yeast and thickener (Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose).
It has 329 kcal per portion, 13g of fat – 2.6g of which are saturated fats, 5.4g of sugar and 1.3g of salt.
