The boards provide taxi-users with information about fares, what services can be expected from drivers and the telephone numbers of the various taxi companies that operate in Brussels. The information is provided in the capital’s two official languages as well as in English.
The information boards will be put in place at the 136 locations across Brussels that house a taxi rank. Several information boards will be placed at larger taxi ranks such outside main railway stations.
The Brussels regional minister responsible for transport Brigitte Grouwels (Flemish Christian democrat, photo) told the Brussels regional news site brusselnieuws.be that “The outlay for the information boards is minimal. As Mobiel Brussel is putting them in place for us they are only costing 110 euro each. We have opted here for providing as much information possible for the least possible amount of tax-payers money”
In addition to the information boards, a sheet containing information about fares, passenger rights and contact details where customers can obtain more information or make complaints should be visible inside all Brussels taxis.
“Correct, multi-lingual and transparent information for taxi-users is one of my priorities.” Ms Grouwels added.
The information boards are part of Minister Grouwels’ global taxi plan that was launched in 2011.
