BRUSSELS – Belgian motoring association Touring is warning of major traffic congestion on Belgium’s roads as hundreds of thousands of people head off to enjoy the traditional end of May long weekend.
Touring says routes to the Ardennes and the Belgian coast are likely to be particularly congested on Friday evening and from mid-afternoon onwards on Monday.
Anyone who doesn’t want to spend several hours stuck in a traffic jam should consider travelling at other times, the organisation suggests.
Touring also warns that driving conditions in central Brussels are likely to be difficult on Sunday afternoon, because the streets will be packed with runners taking part in the annual ’20 kilometres’ race.
