Ryanair flights resume today

18 June 2007

CHARLEROI – Air traffic resumed according to schedule on Monday. Ryanair flights have been departing on time.

The airport was paralysed by a strike on Friday and Saturday. All Ryanair flights were cancelled over the weekend. On Saturday the strike ended. Airlines Jet4you and Wizzair resumed service on Sunday.

Ryanair wanted to be certain that the airport was 100 percent operational before resuming service. “We had to get the crews back on schedule and we wanted to give customers enough notice. But everything has been running normally since this morning,” said David Gering, commercial director of Ryanair.

The planes were grounded for three days. Gering says the financial losses cannot be calculated at the moment. “That was not our priority for the time being. We will do that soon,” he said.
