Railways and post offices join forces

14 February 2005

BRUSSELS – Customers can look forward to buying stamps at the train station and rail tickets in their post offices, it was announced on Monday.

Belgium’s state backed post office La Poste and national rail operator SNCB are planning to launch a joint pilot project on Tuesday to start selling each other’s services.

The train stations Moustier and Kontich will sell stamps, weigh parcels and deal with registered deliveries.

In return, the post offices at Lebbeke and two post offices at Courcelles will sell the Go Pass, Rail Pass and Key Card season tickets.

The SNCB thinks providing services in the offices of small stations could make them even more useful to passengers.
