BRUSSELS – The average Belgian is generally tolerant towards gay men, lesbians and bisexuals, it was reported on Wednesday.
However, a survey in Flemish daily De Morgen revealed that 19 percent of Belgians neverthless think there is too much tolerance shown for non-heterosexual residents.
Among the over 65s, as many as 39 percent complain of too much tolerance.
It also seems as if French-speakers are less in favour of gay rights than their Flemish counterparts. While 44 percent of Flemish Belgians believe gay couples should be able to adopt children, only 28 percent of those in Wallonia agree.
