Belgian sex life (only just) above average

BRUSSELS — The sex life of Belgian nationals is at best average, but a majority of them are satisfied with their time between the sheets.

According to the Durex Global Sex Survey, Belgians had sex on average 106 times in 2005, only just above the global average of 103.

However, a total of 57 percent of Belgians are satisfied about his or her sex life, newspaper ‘De Standaard’ reported on Wednesday.

And yet, in comparison with the Greeks — who made love on average 138 times — Belgians are being out performed by their Mediterranean cousins.

Moreover, the survey also indicated the amount of sex Belgians have has been declining since 2002, reaching a record low last year.

In 2002, Belgians had sex 130 times, but this figure had fallen to 105 in 2004. The average of 106 this year thus represents a slight improvement.

And in comparison with Japan — whose inhabitants have sex on average 45 times per year — the sex life of Belgians is reasonably active.

And with 57 percent satisfied about their sex life, Belgians top the global average of 44 percent.
