THE HAGUE – State secretary for Finance Jan Kees de Jager is going to lower the tax on inheritance. Heirs of the deceased must now pay 41 to 68 percent tax on a legacy.
The rate will be capped at 50 percent in future. De Jager announced his plans on Wednesday in the Telegraaf and the Financieele Dagblad.
The state secretary says his plans won’t cost the treasury any money. He plans to make up for the lost revenue in other ways.
The new inheritance law must be ready by 2010. One of the starting points is that the financial position of the deceased partner and children must not suffer.
