MADRID — The Health Ministry has recalled five batches of Santuri brand baby milk found to be contaminated with salmonella. The milk has already caused 29 cases of gastroenteritis, 23 of which were among babies less than a year old.
The products, which are branded Confort and Natur, were consumed by the victims between February and July and contained the kedougou strain of salmonella. All of those affected are reported to be making a satisfactory recovery.
Nationwide warning
The contaminated batches have been distributed all over Spain, and the company is in the process of recalling them. The product numbers of the faulty lots are 708641 and 800052 of Natur 1, 708311 and 801141 of Confort 1 and 708321 of Confort 2. The Health Ministry advises against consuming any of these products.
So far, nine cases have been detected in Castilla y León, four in the Valencia region, four in Andalusia, four in Madrid, three in Catalonia, three in Galicia, one in Castilla-La Mancha and one in Murcia.
